06 July 2021 Current Affairs:The Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought (BOLD) project is launched.

About Project BOLD:
♦ It is a KVIC project that was launched with the goals of reducing desertification as well as providing livelihood and multi-disciplinary rural industry support.
♦ It was first introduced in the tribal village of Nichla Mandwa in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
♦ Over 25 bighas (16 acres) of vacant arid Gram Panchayat land, 5000 saplings of special bamboo species – Bambusa Tulda and Bambusa Polymorpha brought from Assam – were planted.
♦ Project BOLD aims to establish bamboo-based green patches in arid and semi-arid areas.
♦ By August of this year, KVIC plans to replicate the project in Village Dholera in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district and the Leh-Ladakh region.
