Mobile Integrated Oxygen Concentrator - OxyJani
Mobile Integrated Oxygen Concentrator - OxyJani

OxyJani is based on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology principles.

03 July 2021 Current Affairs:Indian researchers designed a sturdy, mobile integrated oxygen concentrator named "OxyJani".
The team behind OxyJani: Researchers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Advanced Scientific Research Center, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India

About OxyJani:
♦ OxyJani is based on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology principles.
♦ The researchers switched from lithium zeolite (LiX), which is commonly used in oxygen generators, to sodium zeolite, which does not generate toxic solid waste and can be manufactured in India.
♦ Although the science behind using sodium in this application is well understood, the development of this device presented significant engineering challenges.
♦ The OxyJani concentrator is modular and capable of delivering a variety of solutions, including the conversion of medical air to medical oxygen, and is an entirely off-grid solution that includes all modules that can facilitate in rural areas.
♦ Furthermore, the waste generated by the concentrator has the potential to be used as an agricultural input material.
